Celebrate Winter Fun at the Butler AM Rotary Carved in Ice Festival
Winter in Butler isn’t complete without the Butler AM Rotary Carved in Ice Festival! Now in its ninth year, this beloved event brings the community together for a weekend of incredible ice artistry, delicious food, and family-friendly activities. Best of all, the festival is free to attend, making it the perfect way to enjoy a winter weekend in town.
The fun begins on Friday, February 21st with “Lights on the Ice” sponsored by Nextier Bank. From 5 PM to 8 PM, Diamond Park and Main Street will sparkle as colorful lights illuminate the intricate ice sculptures created by the talented team at DiMartino Ice. Bring your camera or smartphone to capture the magic while watching live ice carving demonstrations. There will also be food vendors, adult beverages, and live entertainment to round out the evening’s festivities.
On Saturday, the festival continues with “Family Fun Day,” offering activities for all ages from 11 AM to 4 PM. Diamond Park will be buzzing with excitement as carvers continue to create dazzling ice sculptures. Kids will love the popular ice slide, so be sure to pack waterproof pants to keep them comfortable! Live music and food trucks will add to the lively atmosphere, making it a perfect day out for the entire family.
Beyond Diamond Park, the festival offers even more to explore. The Butler Art Center will host the annual chili cook-off, a basket auction, and the second annual Carved in Icing sweets competition, where local bakers showcase their edible masterpieces. Over at the Sons and Daughters of Italy, the hot dog eating contest will have spectators cheering as participants compete to win, thanks to the support of the venue, Community Care Connections and the Butler Hot Dog Shoppe.
Main Street will be packed with additional activities and attractions. Families can enjoy free tractor rides, meet therapy animals, and take part in a kids’ scavenger hunt. Character appearances, balloon artists, and airbrush tattoos will keep children entertained, while adults can explore local wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Visitors can also tour first responder vehicles and participate in the New York Life Child ID program, among other activities hosted at the Holly Pointe Building, courtesy of Butler County Community College.
This annual event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of local businesses, who sponsor the stunning ice sculptures on display. Their contributions help transform downtown Butler into a winter wonderland for the community to enjoy.
The Butler AM Rotary Carved in Ice Festival is a cherished tradition that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re admiring the incredible ice carvings, savoring a warm bowl of chili, or watching the kids delight in the ice slide, you’re sure to create lasting memories. We are thrilled that this is our seventh year offering festival coordination services and can’t wait to see you in Downtown Butler. Bundle up and join us for a weekend of winter magic!
