The Butler AM Rotary Carved in Ice Festival is back — and this year marks a major milestone. The 10th annual festival returns to Diamond Park and Main Street in downtown Butler for a full weekend of free winter fun, creativity, and community celebration.

Kristen Kane Events is proud to be coordinating this beloved tradition for the eighth year, working alongside the Butler AM Rotary Club and incredible local sponsors to bring downtown Butler to life each winter. What began as a small community gathering has grown into one of Butler County’s most anticipated winter festivals, welcoming families, visitors, and local businesses to celebrate together. The event has even won the Butler Eagle Reader’s Choice Gold Award multiple times for the Best Winter Festival in Butler.

A Winter Weekend in the Heart of Downtown Butler

The festival takes place in Diamond Park and along Main Street across from the Butler County Courthouse, where guests can watch the talented team from Glacial Ice Works transform massive blocks of ice into detailed, one-of-a-kind sculptures. Each design is sponsored by local businesses who help make this free community event possible — and whose support keeps this tradition thriving year after year.

Friday Night – Lights on the Ice

Friday, February 20th | 5:00–8:00 PM
Sponsored by Nextier Bank

The weekend kicks off with Lights on the Ice, a festive evening where illuminated sculptures glow throughout the park while live carving happens in real time. It’s the perfect opportunity to stroll downtown, capture photos and videos, enjoy music, watch the fire dancer performance (weather permitting), grab food from local vendors, and sip adult beverages while viewing the frozen artwork come to life.

Saturday – Family Fun Day

Saturday, February 21st | 11:00 AM–4:00 PM
Sponsored by Pennsylvania American Water

Saturday is packed with activities for all ages across Diamond Park, Main Street, and surrounding venues:

  • Live ice carvings, music, food trucks, and the always-popular ice slide for kids in Diamond Park

  • Chili Cook-Off sponsored by Community Care Connections

  • Basket auction and Carved in Icing sweets competition at the Butler Art Center and Gallery, sponsored by Carbinite Metal Coatings

  • 50/50 drawing in front of the Butler County Courthouse

  • Balloon artists, airbrush tattoos, kids’ scavenger hunt, New York Life Child ID, and Kids’ Weekend Backpack Program activities at the Holly Pointe Building

  • Children’s activities sponsored by Butler County Community College

  • New this year: children’s entertainment at Glade Run Sanctuary, sponsored by Penn Christian Academy

Plus, enjoy special appearances from the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, costumed characters, tractor rides, the Experience Butler County Jeep, Jeep show by the Bantam Jeep Festival, local wineries, breweries, distilleries, and many more vendors lining Main Street.

A Decade of Community Tradition

Reaching the 10-year anniversary is a true testament to the community support behind Carved in Ice. Local sponsors, volunteers, small businesses, and families continue to make this festival a highlight of winter in Butler County. Kristen Kane Events is honored to help plan and coordinate an event that brings people together, supports local organizations, and keeps Butler Downtown thriving even in the colder months.

Whether you’re coming for the ice sculptures, the family activities, the food, or simply to enjoy a winter weekend downtown, the Butler AM Rotary Carved in Ice Festival offers something for everyone — and it’s completely free to attend.

We can’t wait to celebrate this special milestone with you.
