To celebrate the release of Wigle Whiskey's Frankenstein Whiskey, Kristen Kane Events transformed the Wigle Whiskey Tasting Room and Restaurant in Pittsburgh's Strip District into Monster Mash, an immersive Halloween pop-up bar inspired by one of cinema's most legendary monsters. Through dramatic lighting, theatrical décor, and carefully layered design elements, the space became an unforgettable destination where guests could enjoy signature cocktails while stepping into a world inspired by classic horror.

Designed and installed by Kristen Kane Events, Monster Mash combined immersive storytelling, interactive photo opportunities, and detailed event production to create a Halloween experience unlike any other. Every corner of the venue embraced the spirit of Frankenstein while celebrating Wigle Whiskey's newest seasonal release through creative experiential event design.

Bringing Frankenstein to Life

The inspiration behind Monster Mash began with Wigle Whiskey's Frankenstein Whiskey, creating the perfect opportunity to build an immersive environment that paid tribute to the iconic monster while embracing the excitement of Halloween.

Throughout the venue, dramatic lighting transformed the tasting room into a mysterious laboratory filled with eerie shadows and haunting green and purple hues. The atmospheric lighting completely changed the mood of the space, creating the perfect backdrop for an evening of seasonal cocktails and immersive entertainment.

From the moment guests entered, they were welcomed into an environment where every detail contributed to the story.

A Monster-Sized Welcome

A custom Monster Mash logo, designed in a creepy vintage-inspired font, became the focal point of the venue. Alongside the logo, an oversized image of Frankenstein surrounded by dramatic lightning bolts immediately established the theme and created a striking backdrop that greeted guests as they entered.

Leading visitors farther into the experience, oversized Frankenstein footprints guided guests toward the bar, creating a playful interactive element that encouraged exploration while reinforcing the immersive storyline.

Nearby, custom lightning bolt decals energized the doors behind the lounge area, adding another visual connection to Frankenstein's unforgettable creation scene.

Every Detail Told the Story

One of the defining characteristics of Monster Mash was the incredible attention given to even the smallest decorative details.

Guests passing between the tasting room and the distillery discovered doors wrapped in vintage anatomy book pages accented with dramatic blood splatter, creating the feeling of entering a mad scientist's laboratory.

Above, the ceiling installation layered creepy cloth with suspended chains, adding texture and movement while enhancing the haunted atmosphere throughout the venue. Looking overhead revealed another level of storytelling that surrounded guests from every direction.

The classic Frankenstein film played continuously on the televisions, providing another immersive layer that connected guests to the inspiration behind the event while creating a nostalgic experience for fans of classic horror.

A Mad Scientist's Laboratory

Behind the bar, shelves were transformed into a laboratory filled with mysterious discoveries.

Glass beakers, vintage books, plasma lights, preserved greenery, skeleton animals, realistic body parts both inside and outside of specimen jars, rats, and other eerie scientific curiosities filled the display from top to bottom. Every shelf invited guests to look closer and discover another unexpected detail hidden within the collection.

The layered styling created the illusion of an active laboratory where experiments had only recently been abandoned, adding authenticity and depth to the overall experience.

To complete the scene, caution tape stretched across the front of the bar, warning guests that they were entering an area where unusual experiments had clearly taken place.
